Testimonials

Jessi Meyer, like myself, dabbles in everything. She is the best to go to for script format, poetry, and nonfiction. She specializes in content and grammar. I am a budding show writer and showrunner with my own YouTube show. She keeps me on topic, thinking of other characters from varying lores, and how I would incorporate them. She helps build dynamics by thinking outside the bubble. In doing such, she helps build better character/narrator correlation.

Jessi tackles my work with a satirical approach, keeping interactions professional, yet entertaining. She is also helping Destiny with my dissertation. I do not believe that I could have achieved better work without her.

Working with Jessica has provided me an amazing opportunity, from the first year of college to making my way through graduate school. English is not my first language, so writing is one of the challenges I want to overcome.

Jessica has all the positive qualities as a phenomenal editor. She is hardworking, patient, passionate, and confident. I find her editing skills extremely helpful and educational, and I've seen improvements in my own writing through her insightful advice and instruction. I’m looking forward to working with Jessica for many more years.

Jessi helped me write and edit a lot of my challenging papers and essays. I get stuck often with my ideas, but she listens to how I feel or think, and then advises the best word choices that fully deliver my thoughts to the readers. When I get completely lost, Jessi will guide me through it step-by-step. Without Jessi’s generous help on editing my papers, I wouldn’t have survived my AP classes or have gotten into my top choice of school. Even now, I’m very thankful to have her.

Sandy Maue and I have known each other for over ten years. She is the moderator of the Ocular Voices Writer’s Group and leads readings, discussions and critiques. She has honed her editing skills by reviewing, critiquing and editing various works for contest submission and publication.

Sandy serves as a multi-service editor. She will do a substantive review of manuscripts, complete line-by-line editing, and review corrected and edited drafts. She takes the time to explain the problems she finds, whether it be an issue with point of view, description, dialogue or scene setting. She can give a quick overview concerning a piece of written work or delve in the deep recesses of the story and find problem areas that can turn an average story into a great adventure.

Works of fiction are her primary field when editing. She’s skilled at uncovering inconsistencies in world construction, character arcs, plot lines, time lines, and flow. Not only does she possess these skills, but she’s also proficient in communicating areas of concern and why a writer needs to rewrite a sentence or a section of a story. It is for these reasons that I am very happy when she agrees to edit a piece of my work.

Sandy maintains a reasonable pace when editing and stays on target with hitting deadlines. I highly recommend anyone writing fiction to contact Sandy and ask her to consider editing their work.

John Smith - Writer

Sandy thrives with fiction prose, and has edited my work for years. I’d think that my writing was the best ever, and she’d show me where I could improve. In doing this, she has pushed me to grow and develop as a writer. Without her hard work and time, I would still be writing at the level of an eighteen-year-old with an ego complex.

Because I am highly dyslexic, I tend to be extremely repetitious. Sandy will point out content errors, making sure that I stop telling and start showing. In doing this, she helps me to be more creative with my prose. Because of her, I would not be the author that I am today.

Destiny Fritz

I am a single mother of two, who earned a master's degree in Public Administration last fall. As you might guess, earning my degree required writing many research papers, chapter reviews, and essays. While I have always been an A student, writing has been a shortcoming of mine. I can always say what I think, but putting my thoughts to paper is a struggle for me. That is why I am blessed to know Destiny Fritz.

When I was working on my masters, I turned to Destiny to help me with my assignments. Always willing to help, she would come over or work with me via email. After I had done my research and felt I had the necessary knowledge to begin writing, Destiny would work with me to organize my thoughts. Sometimes this involved just talking about the subject until I had a clear idea how to proceed. For more complex assignments, she would help me build an outline that would serve as an invaluable road map for my writing.

Destiny also helped me become proficient in MLA style. This was no small feat. I found MLA style tedious and boring. Destiny, however, helped me work through my antipathy for MLA style, providing me with helpful reminders for important rules. As well, Destiny served as my final proof reader. I hate to admit it, but I can’t tell you how many times she caught easy to overlook but potentially devastating mistakes that could have knocked me down a letter grade. In addition to copy editing, Destiny would help me restructure my work to make it more coherent, and she helped me recast sentences or paragraphs that were unclear after a first or second draft. In doing so, Destiny taught me how to become a more focused proof reader.

The best thing about Destiny is her even-keeled, patient demeanor. When I was complaining about MLA style, or frustrated with my inability to articulate a point, or just generally distressed about my work, Destiny served as calming, reassuring presence. Because of these qualities, I would highly recommend Destiny as an editor.

Kelly Keeven

If your genre is political or comical, Destiny is your go-to editor. She works well with fiction and nonfiction. Destiny helped shape my dissertation on The Truth Behind the “Bury Your Gays” Trope, which is being looked at for academic publication through Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville.

She’s not afraid to be honest with her evaluations. She offers direction along with correction suggestions. She makes sure that the piece stays consistent with the “say it, prove it” model of writing. Destiny is a stickler on grammar. On her final go-through, she will make sure there are no grammar or punctuation errors.

Destiny is witty, classy, and sassy. I highly recommend working with her. She will not steer you wrong.

Sandy has edited and critiqued several pieces of writing for me.  She not only edits for mechanics and grammatical errors, but does a detailed developmental editing.  Her suggestions for revisions have been extremely insightful as she critiques for story structure, character development and plot.   Sandy provides a substantial editing of the essential elements in such a positive way that you become a better writer and create a successful story.
